Yes, similar, but not quite the same. Ontologies are used for knowledge representation and semantic modeling. They define the concepts, properties, and relationships within a domain to capture the semantics of the domain and enable reasoning. Ontologies focus on knowledge representation and semantic modeling, while logical data models focus on database design and data management. I would say that ontologies are a more general concept, while logical data models are specifically tailored for database design and management.
